Why you want to avoid a pre-made Mud Masque at all cost
When I was studying for my Diploma in Organic Skincare Formulation, one of the key topics is preservation and the importance of preservation of the skincare products.Products that are not properly preserved can pose significant health risk to the customers. Anytime a product contains water content, a proper preservation must be in place.
However it is not always a straightforward science to preserve skincare products, it will need to depend on the water content, the temperature, the ingredients and the environment. One thing for sure however is that clay is very a hard ingredient to preserve once activated with water i.e. when turned into mud. And it is almost impossible to preserve mud with natural preservatives. Any mud mask you buy in the market that is already pre-made i.e. in mud form (not dry powder) will need to be preserved with very strong synthetic preservatives to keep the product safe from bacterial and fungal contamination.
This unfortunately means that the mud masque you happily slather onto your face will most certainly contain numerous questionable harsh synthetic preservatives which I will personally avoid at all cost. Otherwise, the masque will not be safe to use. Many harsh synthetic preservatives have been known to cause allergies, and can cause adverse skin reactions. Some are even known to cause hormonal changes and are carcinogenic and can have significant implications on your health… Remember… next time you see a Mud Masque on the supermarket shelf, DON’T BUY IT, even if it says its NATURAL. Natural doesn’t mean all ingredients in the product are natural. Do not be deceived by their marketing strategy.
Opt for dry powder form, and always always read the ingredients list and make sure they are all natural ingredients with no added cheap fillers. This is the reason why I do not formulate pre-made mud masque with water already added.Instead I formulate in “dry powder form” and having customers activate with water / yogurt / kefir only when using. There are two important benefits of this.
Firstly – no preservatives are required to formulate this. I can keep the product 100% natural, high performing and without any harsh synthetic preservatives.
Secondly – this is much better value for money for my customers as they won’t be paying for the water content. They only pay for the amazing ingredients in the product. They get what they pay for, with no added cheap filler ingredients!
So here you are, this is our newly launched Anti-aging Vitamin C Exfoliating Facial Masque in powder form.
I’ve been using this beautiful anti aging masque once a week for the last few months… I absolutely love it!
It leaves my skin feeling gorgeously clean, soft and radiant. I couple it with my Active Botanical Anti-Aging Serum and my Active Botanical Anti-Aging Night Cream, the result is just wonderful! My skin feels soft, nourished and brightened. Exactly what I needed to offset my many many very late nights in the past few months. And what are the secrets? It’s none other but the famous Vitamin C and the mineral rich purifying clays!
The hero ingredient of this masque is the PURE VITAMIN C in the natural form, L-Ascorbic Acid. As you know, Vitamin C is an antioxidant powerhouse, with many anti-aging properties, BRIGHTEN DULL SKIN, DIMINISH APPEARANCE OF SCARS, EVEN OUT SKIN TONE and HYDRATE THE SKIN. And the MINERAL RICH PURIFYING CLAYS: Bentonite, Kaolin and Moroccon Lava clays. They are purifying, detoxing and are rich in minerals to deeply clean and nourish our skin. What else is in this wonderful anti-aging exfoliating masque?
Silica rich Diatomaceous Earth, known as diatoms that have fossilized over millions of years. Silica helps in the production of both collagen and elastin.
Organic lime peel powder – a potent anti-bacterial and anti-fungal ingredient, and a great gentle exfoliant.
This masque is made with 100% natural high performing ingredients. Use it with your yogurt or milk kefir to further supercharge this.So why masque and scrub together? And why they pair up so well? When you exfoliate your skin, you remove the dead skin cells, making your skin much more effective at absorbing nutrients. So, I highly recommend a gentle exfoliation before a masque treatment for maximum absorption of vitamins and minerals. And given you need to exfoliate before a masque treatment, why not do it all in ONE GO! It saves time and it saves money! Why would you pay for TWO products when you can get both in ONE?! 🙂
